HELOTES, Texas – A water main break in Helotes sent water shooting up toward the sky Friday afternoon.
It happened after 5 p.m. northwest of San Antonio, near Government Canyon State Park and Highway 16, at Bandera Road Ranch Parkway between Loch Wind and Mountain Climb.
A San Antonio Water System spokesperson said a non-SAWS contractor was doing work in the area, used a power tool and broke a 20-inch water main.
A total of 600 accounts or addresses were affected by the water main break and there was a loss of pressure in the area, according to SAWS officials.
SAWS was able to restore pressure to one area, but not to another. That area is still experiencing little to no water pressure and residents will need to boil water until the issue is resolved.
The area that is still being impacted by the water main break has not yet been specified by officials.
However, crews will be working on the water main break all night to restore pressure and repair the damage.
We’ll bring more updates as they become available.
