The City of Lorain has issued a precautionary boil advisory on Dec. 28 until further notice for residents on the south side, according to a news release.
The advisory is in effect for the following areas:
- East 28th Street south to the city limits;
- The railroad tracks with crossings at East 28th Street and East 36th Street – eastward to the city limits
The boil advisory was issued following a water main break about 8 a.m. in the area of the Fulton Water Tower located at East 36th Street and Fulton Street.
Customers in the affected areas are advised to boil water until further notice or use an alternative source of drinking water such as bottled water, the release said.
Water used for drinking or cooking should be brought to a full boil for a minimum of three minutes and allowed to cool before use.
The advisory will be in effect for a minimum of 24 hours. Water samples will be collected and analyzed to confirm good water quality.
City officials will issue an update when the boil advisory is lifted.
